Norden House is a Georgian Farm House newly refurbished into a beautiful self-catering letting house to comfortably sleep fourteen, and set within its own grounds overlooking the ruins of Corfe Castle in Dorset.
The House is conveniently situated for using local transport, with bus stops at the site entrance and the steam train to Swanage just a short walk away, which makes us the ideal base for exploring the Isle of Purbeck. We are set back from the main road, but with easy access.
The site is under a mile of the historic village of Corfe Castle … the ancient town of Wareham is only three and one-half miles from us and we are just fifteen minutes drive from Studland Bay and the seaside town of Swanage.
There is a footpath leading directly to the village of Corfe where you will find three pubs along with several shops and the village bakery, and of course you can visit the ruins of Corfe Castle owned by the National Trust with their gift shop and tea rooms.
For those who like to be active, there are numerous cycling and walking routes directly off the farm and we allow people on-site to access the top of the hill, from where they can enjoy panoramic views of the Isle of Purbeck and Poole Harbour and on a clear day the Needles on the Isle of Wight.
Local attractions include Arne Bird Reserve, Brownsea Island, Monkey World, Bovington Tank Museum, Durlston Country Park, Dorset Water Park to name a few – all within ten miles of us.
Norden House is a large property offering very spacious downstairs living areas and one downstairs double bedroom with disabled access and an en-suite wet room. Upstairs all six bedrooms (four doubles, two twin-bedded) are a generous size with TVs and en-suite toilet and shower in every room (one room with bath en-suite). There is also a separate extra bathroom.
Kitchen – Large duel- fuel cooker with double oven and grill, integral oven and microwave, dishwasher, American-style fridge freezer, wine cooler, bar-style island. We have a Nespresso Coffee pod machine (Citz&Milk), so please bring the correct pods if you want to make use of that facility. We will leave some complimentary pods for your arrival.
Dining Room – Comfortably seats fourteen diners. A large spacious light room with original window shutters, wooden flooring and fireplace.
Sitting Room – Two spacious lounge areas with comfortable seating. These can be divided by French doors. Original wooden floors.
TV & Music facilities – CD player with speakers connecting into both sitting rooms. Large Freeview Smart TV with usb points and DVD player. All bedrooms have Freeview TVs.
Telecom facilities – Mobile signal is variable depending on your network. WiFi is available throughout the house.
Heating – Gas central heating throughout.
Bathrooms – All rooms have an en-suite shower room and toilet. Additional large bathroom with roll top bath upstairs.
Disabled Facilities – We have ground floor bedroom with wet room and disabled access ramp from the carpark. Downstairs bedroom also has a disabled pull cord alarm.
Children’s facilities – Cots and two high chairs and an option for additional Z beds (two max). Puzzles & books in hallway.
Outdoors & car parking – Large secluded garden with picnic benches. Ample gravel car park. New for 2019: Norden House has recently had a 17.5m squared pavilion installed in the rear garden, that can comfortably seat 22- 25 people. Using timber and Purbeck stone, the structure provides the ideal shelter for a BBQ in any weather, or a cosy evening around the fire pit.
Pets – We welcome up to three dogs by prior arrangement. Dogs must be kept downstairs and not allowed on furniture. Please clean up after your dog – dog bin provided.
The house boasts a large lawn and mature garden which can be used to hold wedding receptions and celebratory events. We have a list of local caterers and marquee hiring companies for such events – please contact us for details.
Also located on the Norden Farm estate we have a Farm Shop, family campsite and a self-catering Farm Cottage that sleeps four – all conveniently located to offer you additional accommodation types for further family and friends to stay nearby.
